Who We Are

The Rhode Island Afterschool Plus Alliance is a statewide advocacy and mobilizing organization whose mission is to affect public policy to expand and support high-quality afterschool programming so that Rhode Island's children and youth are prepared to lead productive lives.

Our Goals

  • Influence public policy to increase support for afterschool programs
  • Increase public awareness and public will about the importance of afterschool programs
  • Foster strategic program quality improvement in afterschool programs across the state

Membership and Governance Structure
The Alliance consists of a 21-member board of directors, an executive committee, standing subcommittees, and general membership.

Membership is open to anyone interested in increasing accessibility and quality of afterschool programs in Rhode Island. The diverse array of members include representatives of several Rhode Island Departments, including Education, Health, Human Services, Labor & Training, and Mental Health; the Governor’s office; the Rhode Island General Assembly; United Way of Rhode Island; afterschool and youth development educators; parents; community-based non-profits; businesses; enrichment providers; and higher education representatives.
